Minnesota Business Accounting was founded by Bill Miller, who has a built a broad background in accounting and finance, in a variety of industries, for over 30 years.

Bill graduated from the University of Nebraska, in 1981, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and was recruited off campus into GE’s world renowned Financial Management Program (FMP). This is an intensive 3 year training program which prepares its graduates for careers in a variety of financial positions. The program combines graduate level accounting coursework, along with on the job training positions, in accounting, financial analysis, auditing, budgeting & planning.

Upon graduation from the FMP, Bill worked in a variety of financial planning & analysis assignments in a diverse mix of GE’s businesses, including Aircraft Engines, Industrial & Power Systems, Plastics and Fleet Services.

After a 15 year career with GE, Bill moved on to a Strategic Planning role with Hoffman Enclosures (Subsidiary of Pentair). He spent 5 years at Hoffman and led a team in the development of the 5 year strategic plan, and various sales and marketing analysis assignments. While at Hoffman, Bill completed his MBA at the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul.

After the economic downturn following 911, Bill’s position was eliminated at Hoffman, and he and his wife, Claudia, began to plan the start-up of a medical spa, Consultative Skin Care (CSC).

Bill developed the business plan, obtained financing, and CSC opened its doors in Feb 2003. Bill was instrumental in setting up the accounting system, developing the marketing plans and fostering vendor relationships, as its CFO. The company has done well now for almost 10 years, and has survived this most recent economic downturn, even in an industry funded by discretionary spending.

In addition to maintaining the accounting work at CSC, Bill has also gained experience in 2 other industries over the past several years. He spent 2 years supporting the President at Gyrus Medical, in Maple Grove, in the financial management of the sales, marketing and manufacturing functions. And most recently, Bill was the CFO at Storage Equipment, a distributor of warehouse equipment.

With this broad experience base, from one of the largest corporations in the world, to a small family run start-up company, Bill’s experience and flexibility will be a huge benefit to any small business venture.
